Στη βόρεια πλευρά της Σκιάθου, γύρω από το ιστορικό Κάστρο, φιλοξενείται ένας από τους πιο σπάνιους και εντυπωσιακούς φτερωτούς επισκέπτες του νησιού: ο Μαυροπετρίτης (Falco eleonorae).
Το αρπακτικό αυτό γεράκι, που φωλιάζει αποκλειστικά σε νησιά του Αιγαίου, αποτελεί σύμβολο της πλούσιας βιοποικιλότητας της Σκιάθου.
Η παρουσία του στο Κάστρο μας υπενθυμίζει τη σημασία της προστασίας του φυσικού περιβάλλοντος και των μοναδικών ειδών που ζουν δίπλα μας.

The rare Eleonora’s Falcon at Skiathos Kastro
On the northern side of Skiathos, around the historic Kastro, one of the rarest and most impressive winged visitors of the island can be spotted: the Eleonora’s Falcon (Falco eleonorae).
This remarkable bird of prey, which breeds almost exclusively on Aegean islands, is a symbol of Skiathos’ rich biodiversity.
Its presence at Kastro reminds us of the importance of protecting the natural environment and the unique species that coexist with us.
